ANNOUNCEMENT: We're here for you!

We're Here for you! Experimental License Support for 5.850-5.925

Re-tuning Mimosa by Airspan equipment for use:

Once you’ve received FCC approval for your STA and filed Form 601, please fill out the form here for more information and support for the covered devices mentioned below. If not, please continue reading first.

General Information

As you may have heard, the FCC has been preparing to open the new unlicensed U-NII 4 band, a 45 MHz (5850-5895 MHz) portion of the underutilized 5.9 GHz DSRC transportation band. This is exciting as it finally provides the opportunity for higher capacity, full 160 MHz channels across the U-NII 3 and U-NII 4 bands.

While the spectrum has not yet been fully authorized for unlicensed use, due to the impact of COVID-19, the FCC has graciously and rapidly responded to the WISP industry request to allow early Special Temporary Authority license access to the band to meet the surge in consumer capacity demand during this unfortunate pandemic.

Unlicensed spectrum can be unpredictable which is why we design with flexibility and wide frequency range support in mind. Initially, Mimosa will allow license unlock access and new firmware in order to control distribution of U-NII 4 access only to WISPs that provide proof of an approved FCC STA and have filed their mandatory Form 601. Mimosa will initially support this band on the A5, A5c, B5c, C5c, C5x devices.

If you require assistance with filing NEW STA requests, we encourage you to contact Steve Coran (scoran@lermansenter.com) at Lerman Senter PLLC on a for fee basis.
